When it comes to choosing my most favorite parts about Harry Potter, the three Deathly Hallows from the Tales of Beedle the Bard are one of them. I guess for most of the Potterheads it is more or less the same. The entire concept of the deathly hallows just never stops to fascinate me every time I watch the movies or read the books. It is absolutely brilliant and genius how the three deathly hallows have in some way or another appeared throughout the series before the final book and the last two movies and we just never happened to get the hint of them even after being such crucial elements in the story. Well, let's just please take off our invisible hats ( or if we're wearing one :p ) to J.K Rowling once again, for gifting us potterheads with the deathly hallows. Potterheads or not, you're more than welcome to rank the list. ;)

The Cloak of Invisibility is my favorite among the three because the thought of it gives a sense of safety and security. Who doesn't want to become invisible from the world every now and then? When life goes bad or when we are utterly depressed or in a melancholy, we all get the feeling of wanting to just hide in one corner from the rest of the reality or to dig up a hole and bury ourselves. But, sad that we can't have an invisibility cloak for just that and we can't have an invisibility cloak at all for anything. ( Why are we not wizards and witches in Harry Potter? -_- ) Sigh. Even though there are disillusionment charms to become invisible, the fact that makes the Cloak of Invisibility so prominent is its history. Because the cloak was handed down to Ignotus Peverell by Death himself as per the wizarding world's children's fiction 'The Tale of Three Brothers', the cloak holds so much more power than the other wizard/witch invented cloaks. This cloak of invisibility has the eternal longevity and the ability to counter any summoning charms. So many boyhood memories of the mischievous rendezvous of Harry, Ron and Hermione are associated with the cloak of invisibility. It also holds the memories of James Potter. Because of having the touch of memories of the people who Harry holds so close to him, the cloak has the sense of personal attachment and the safe haven feeling of being surrounded by loved ones. Which is why this cloak is so dear to us. It is the only hollow among the three that yields the sense of comfort, safety, attachment and love instead of fear and dark histories. The true power of the invisibility cloak lies in these very intricate things.
'The Elder Wand' or the 'Wand of Destiny' or the 'Deathstick' is easily the most potent deathly hallow because of its wicked nature of being faithful to only the one who the wand deems to be mighty and deserving. Unlike the other wands, the Elder Wand do not have any loyalty or attachment to its wizard or witch. ''The emotional state of wizards where a lot hangs on a duel, that’s something different. That’s about real power and that’s about transference that will have far-reaching effects in some cases’',said J.K. Rowling. [Pottercast interview, 2007] Made from the very unusual wood to be made a wand from-the Elder wood and having a core of Thestral hair, the wand is somehow enigmatic regarding its attributes. It could be that because the Elder wand has a core of Thestral hair which has innate connection with death and an unsettling ability to somehow always find its destination, death has always happened where the elder wand was concerned. As Xenophilius Lovegood says in the book,''The bloody trail of the Elder Wand is splattered across the pages of wizarding history'', brutal deaths were always in the elder wand's journey. Dumbledore too stated in 'Tales of Beedle the Bard', ‘'Those who are knowledgeable about wandlore will agree that wands do indeed absorb the expertise of those who use them.'' Then according to Dumbledore's statement, considering all those sinister power hungry wizards who committed murders of even their near ones in greed to possess the most powerful wand in the wizarding world, the elder wand has absorbed the expertise of all those dark minds. Another fact that makes this wand so powerful is its contradictory characteristic to always stick to power but at the same time killing the owner is not the only way to possess it. Which makes us question, what kind of power does the elder wand know and recognize? Because sometimes, even if a dueler is more powerful than the other, the wand chooses its own destiny. And the basis of what it does that, we don't know for sure. The mysteriousness, enigma and contradiction are all the more reason to make the elder wand such a fearful and dark thing. How eerie and uncanny is summoning dead people? At least to me a lot. But also at the same time, the matter is somehow very pitiful and sombre. We shouldn't hold the Resurrection Stone to be less mighty than the other hollows since it can control humans by using their very vulnerable emotions. The resurrection stone is very dark and ominous in its own way of making people take drastic decisions on the basis of only their sorrow, pain and longing for loved ones that are deceased. Cadmus Peverall was filled with agony for his dead wife who he wanted to reunite with so much that he gave himself away to death. Albus Dumbledore too couldn't resist the temptation of seeing his dead sister Ariana that he completely forgot that it was a horcrux. A lethal curse activated which could kill Dumbledore if not for the timely action of himself and Severus Snape. Even though he was saved, the stone shortened Dumbledore's life expectancy dramatically and crippled his hand. The wicked Grindelwald wanted to make an army of inferi by using the resurrection stone. But unlike Cadmus, Harry used the resurrection stone to his own profit by being inspired and gaining self strength instead of being overcome with the want to go away with his loved ones who were no longer alive. Harry fought the second wizarding war with bravery and relentless having met his loved ones who filled him with courage saying that they loved him and would always be with him.
