On-anong Homsombath was appointed to represent Laos at Miss Universe 2018 pageant, by Hongkham Souvannavong (TV Lao HD) the President of Miss Universe Laos pageant after the 2018 edition of the pageant winner will have one year preparation to upcoming Miss Universe 2019. Homsombath crowned the 1st runner-up at the Miss Universe Laos 2017 pageant. On-anong Homsombath graduated with a bachelor's degree in International Relations. She works for an Intergovernmental Organization and volunteers as an English teacher. She has passion in cross-cultural understanding and social work. From a young age, On-anong had participated in many cultural and educational exchange programs in the United States, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Hungary and Norway. At the age of 18, On-anong won the best social work project for economic development of ASEAN society at Youth Southeast Asian leader Initiative (YSEALI) 2014 in Malaysia. As a member of the Lao Youth Union, she has conducted social contribution activities to improve the educational accessibility of children in rural part of Laos. She wants to become a qualified social worker; therefore, she aims to pursue her Master's in Social Work. She plans to encourage people to participate in civil engagement in addressing social problems.
