"Storks" is a delightful animated adventure that reimagines the age-old myth of stork-delivered babies in a hilariously modern context. The film follows Junior, a high-flying stork at a massive online retailer, whose life of efficient package delivery is thrown into delightful chaos when he accidentally activates a forgotten Baby Making Machine. This leads to the production of an utterly charming, unauthorized baby girl, forcing Junior to team up with Tulip, a spirited orphan girl, on a frantic race against time to deliver their precious cargo to its rightful home. Filled with clever gags, vibrant animation, and heartwarming moments, "Storks" offers a fresh and funny take on family and purpose. This film absolutely deserves its place on a "Best Doug Sweetland Movies" list, even though Doug Sweetland is not a credited director for "Storks" (the film was directed by Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland as co-director). Sweetland's distinctive animation style and comedic sensibilities are incredibly evident throughout "Storks." His prior work on Pixar classics like "Finding Nemo" and "WALL-E" showcases his talent for bringing characters to life with expressive movement and nuanced performance. In "Storks," you can clearly see his hand in the fluid, energetic animation, particularly in the expressive performances of Junior and Tulip, and the wonderfully absurd physical comedy that punctuates the film. Sweetland's contribution helps elevate "Storks" from a standard animated comedy to a truly memorable and visually engaging experience, solidifying its status as a film that highlights his unique contributions to the genre.
