In this pitch-black musical comedy, Heidi, the star of the "Meet The Feebles Variety Hour," discovers her lover Bletch, The Walrus, is cheating on her. And with all the world waiting for the show, the assorted co-stars must contend with drug addiction, extortion, robbery, disease, drug dealing, and murder. Meanwhile, the love between two of the stars is threatened by Trevor the Rat, who wishes to exploit the young starlet for use in his porno movie. While it is a universe away from the epic grandeur of Middle-earth, *Meet the Feebles* is a crucial and brilliant entry on any list of Peter Jackson's best films. It represents the pinnacle of his early, anarchic period, a demented parody of Jim Henson's Muppets that savagely satirizes the corruption and hypocrisy of show business. The film is a masterclass in audacious practical effects and ambitious puppetry, showcasing the raw, go-for-broke ingenuity that would later evolve into the world-class wizardry of Weta Workshop. It’s a testament to Jackson's unfiltered creative vision, blending grotesque humor, shocking violence, and surprisingly catchy musical numbers into an unforgettable cult classic that proves his genius was just as potent in grimy, low-budget chaos as it is in sweeping Hollywood blockbusters.
