Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: China (2015)

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China plunges players into 1526, at the twilight of the Ming Dynasty, as Shao Jun, the last surviving Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood. Freshly trained by the legendary Ezio Auditore, Shao Jun returns to her homeland on a gripping quest for vengeance and to restore her fallen order. This initial entry in the Chronicles saga reimagines the Assassin’s Creed universe through a striking 2.5D lens, brought to life with a unique art direction that blends 16th-century Chinese brush strokes with contemporary impressionistic styles, creating a truly living painting. Players must master the art of stealth, navigating intricate environments, assassinating targets from the shadows, and utilizing a distinct arsenal including martial arts and a unique hidden shoe blade. The game stands out as a premier action platformer parkour experience due to its innovative integration of core Assassin's Creed mechanics into a side-scrolling format. Its "Assault Course" design ensures fast and fluid movement, allowing Shao Jun to seamlessly run, scale, and climb through the environment, including iconic landmarks like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. The ability to navigate multiple planes – switching between fore, mid, and background – adds strategic depth to both traversal and stealth, requiring players to choose different paths for mission objectives or hidden collectibles. This blend of dynamic parkour, precision platforming, and engaging stealth-action firmly plants Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China among the best in its genre.
