Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: Russia (2016)

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia plunges players into a striking 2.5D world, following Nikolaï Orelov's quest for redemption amidst the chaos of post-October Revolution Russia. The game’s distinctive propaganda art style brings an iconic historical period to life, serving as a visually engaging backdrop for dynamic action platforming. Players must navigate treacherous environments, from the legendary trans-Siberian train to the heavily guarded Kremlin, demanding precise parkour-like movements and strategic infiltration to survive major historical events and escape from Moscow. This title earns its place among the best action platformer parkour games through its intricate level design and diverse character mechanics. Embodying Nikolaï, players utilize a silenced rifle for distant threats, set mines, or engage in close combat with a bayonet, while his Mechanical Winch offers versatile traversal and environmental manipulation critical for platforming. The ability to switch to Anastasia introduces further depth, allowing infiltration through narrow channels and the use of her exclusive Helix Blade, emphasizing agile movement and strategic pathfinding. The blend of stealth, combat, and dynamic traversal through a 20th-century setting with modern elements like elevators and vehicles, makes for a compelling experience that richly combines action, platforming, and parkour.
