**Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)**: Five years after the infamous massacre at Camp Crystal Lake, a new generation of unsuspecting campers arrives at a site mere miles away. Despite the lingering terror of the past, owner Paul chooses to ignore dire warnings and forge ahead, bringing with him a group of eager counselors, including the bright and observant Ginny. However, they are blissfully unaware that the true horror has only been lying dormant. Jason Voorhees, presumed dead and buried along with his mother's legacy, has been patiently waiting in the shadows, driven by a chilling thirst for revenge and ready to claim his next victims. While **Friday the 13th Part 2** is undeniably a slasher film, its inclusion on a "Best Mystery Movies" list can be justified by its skillful manipulation of suspense and audience expectation. The film masterfully toys with the idea of who – or what – is responsible for the escalating murders. Early on, the audience is led to believe that the threat might be supernatural or even a continuation of Mrs. Voorhees' reign of terror. The film deliberately misdirects, planting seeds of doubt and suspicion, forcing viewers to actively question the identity of the killer as the body count rises. The slow reveal of Jason's continued existence, and the chilling realization of his individual, unhinged menace, creates a mounting sense of dread and an unraveling of the "whodunit" narrative, making the eventual identification of the killer a crucial and impactful element of the overall viewing experience.
