In the year 1997, a sinister plot unfolds as extraterrestrials deploy a "stupidity machine," threatening to dim the world's collective intelligence. Leading the charge against this cosmic threat is Zak McKracken, a reporter known for his outlandish stories, working for the infamous National Inquisitor. Despite the incredulity of most, Zak teams up with Annie, the wise leader of the Society of Ancient Wisdom, and Yale students Leslie and Melissa, who've journeyed to Mars. Together, they must unravel an ancient puzzle, expose the alien scheme, and dismantle the intelligence-sapping device. This classic point-and-click adventure offers a blend of offbeat humor, challenging puzzles, and a journey across the globe and even into space. While not developed or published by Disney directly, *Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders* is an example of a game that is part of the Lucasfilm Games legacy. Lucasfilm Games, a division of Lucasfilm, was owned by George Lucas. Ultimately, Lucasfilm was acquired by Disney. Therefore, the game's IP and the studio who developed it, are, in essence, directly connected to Disney's current game library. The retro aesthetic, humor, and puzzle mechanics align with the sense of adventure and imaginative storytelling that often finds a home under the Disney umbrella.
